Recraft documents its Free plan in a single paragraph, and that paragraph answers less than the queries around it assume. Two hard limits are published; the number everybody quotes — the daily credit allowance — is not one of them.
Below: the free tier, every paid price point, what one action costs, a session costed both ways, and the figures Recraft never released.
What the Free plan publishes
The whole of Recraft’s free-plan page reads: “The Free plan is ideal for trying out Recraft’s core functionality without a subscription. It offers limited credits, allowing you to explore Recraft’s image and vector generation tools along with basic editing features. You can upload up to three images per day, and each prompt produces up to two images at a time. Credit top-ups are only available on paid plans. Generated images in the Free plan are public and may appear in the community gallery.”
Two hard numbers sit in there: three uploads a day, two images per prompt. The credit quantity does not — “limited credits” is the whole disclosure, and the credits page adds only that free allowances reset daily.
That gap is why third-party pages fill it in themselves: costbench.com states “30 credits per day” for the Free plan, a figure that appears on none of the vendor’s own pages. When a vendor publishes a limit as a word, the numbers filling it belong to whoever wrote them.
Every paid tier, monthly and annual
Recraft’s paid-plans page publishes both billing options and calls the annual route “up to 20% discount”. Credits renew monthly.
| Plan | Credits per month | Monthly | Annual (per month) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 1,000 | $12 | $10 ($120 per year) |
| Pro | 2,000 | $20 | $16 |
| Pro | 4,000 | $40 | $32 |
| Pro | 8,000 | $80 | $64 |
| Pro | 16,000 | $160 | $128 |
| Teams (per seat) | 2,000 | $22 | $18 |
| Teams (per seat) | 4,000 | $44 | $35 |
| Teams (per seat) | 16,000 | $176 | $141 |
Teams adds shared custom styles, centralized account management, premium 24/7 support and single sign-on. All paid plans include private generation and commercial usage rights while subscribed.
One row is deliberately missing: the documents list a Teams 8,000 tier at $70 monthly and $88 annually, and an annual price above the monthly one means one of the two is wrong. The vendor’s own pages also disagree on entry Teams pricing — $18 per month billed annually in the documentation, $211 displayed on the pricing page — and reconciling them is not our job.
What one action costs in credits
Credits are charged per action, and Recraft publishes a fixed number for some of them and a pointer for the rest.
| Action | Credits | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt enhancer | 0 | |
| Crisp upscale, erase area, vectorization, remove background, extract prompt | 1 | |
| Generate a mockup, mockupize, exploration | 2 | |
| Creative upscale | 20 | |
| Generate image from prompt, image set, remix, variations | 1 | equals the model price |
| Replace background, editing, video from a prompt or from frames | 1 | equals the model price |
The rows marked “equals the model price” carry no number: the documentation points at Recraft Studio instead of publishing the arithmetic. The vector models are the exception, priced outright at 4 credits for Recraft V4.1 Vector and 12 for Recraft V4.1 Pro Vector, beside the flat statement that “Vector generation and the Vector Editor are included on every plan, including Free”.
Top-up packs are priced per pack — 200 credits for $2, 400 for $4, 800 for $8, 1,600 for $16 — never expire, are spent after your monthly credits, and are available on paid plans only. The studio walkthrough shows where each of these actions sits on the canvas.
Worked example: costing a free-plan session

Both prompts below are Recraft’s own, published on its model pages next to the output. They show why a free session can be costed exactly once and only estimated the other time.
A five-word raster prompt
Wristwatch, metal and glass, close-up photo
Recraft reports “a sleek editorial shot” whose brushed metal catches light like a photographer is behind the camera. On the Free plan that prompt returns up to two images, and the documentation does not say what each costs: raster generation is billed as “equals the model price”, with the number living inside Recraft Studio. Any site quoting a per-image credit figure for this run is quoting itself.
A vector prompt, costed in credits
a hand-drawn character reference sheet with consistent identity
Recraft describes the result as a proper reference sheet with front, profile, back and three-quarter views, plus character notes and colour swatches. This is the run that adds up: Recraft V4.1 Vector costs 4 credits per image, and the Free plan returns up to two images per prompt, so the same prompt costs 8 credits. Vectorizing an existing raster is a separate action at 1 credit. How many such runs fit in a day, the documentation never says.
Ownership, refunds and the rules that outlive a plan
Free output is public, “remain the property of Recraft”, and “not licensed for commercial use” — Recraft notes such images typically cannot be listed on stock platforms, which require proof of ownership. Paid output is the opposite: full ownership and commercial rights while subscribed, private, and still yours after the subscription ends.
One rule ignores the plan. “Regardless of plan, assets generated with Recraft may not be used to train any artificial intelligence models, systems, networks, or similar technologies.”
Refunds have a documented shape: Recraft may offer one “where your most recent payment was made within the past 30 days and either you have not used any credits since that payment, or your account has used fewer than 30 credits in total since it was created”. Cancelling runs to the end of the billing period and leaves your paid images private. Payment goes through Stripe, and prices exclude VAT.
Studio credits and API units are separate ledgers. API units are prepaid, non-cancellable, non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, and do not expire. The Recraft API guide covers that side, and the Recraft topic hub collects the model pages.
What Recraft has not published
- The daily credit allowance on the Free plan. “Limited credits” is the whole of it.
- Which models and sizes the Free plan can reach. The free-plan page carries no model list, so third-party claims about it are unverifiable.
- The per-image credit price of raster generation, documented as equal to a model price the documentation never states.
- Concurrency ceilings and Enterprise SLA figures, which appear on none of these pages.
Frequently asked questions
Is Recraft free to use? Yes, with limits: three uploads a day and two images per prompt, and output that is public, owned by Recraft and not licensed for commercial use.
How many credits does the free plan give each day? Recraft has not published the figure. The free-plan page says “limited credits”; the credits page adds only that free allowances reset daily.
Does the free plan include vector or SVG output? Yes. “Vector generation and the Vector Editor are included on every plan, including Free”, which contradicts the common claim that SVG export sits behind a paywall.
Can I use paid images commercially? Yes. Paid plans grant full ownership and commercial rights while subscribed, and those images stay private and yours after cancellation.
When can I get a refund? Inside the documented window only: payment within the past 30 days, and either no credits used since then or fewer than 30 credits used in total.
Start with the two published free limits, then price the row you actually need. Everything else on the internet about Recraft’s free credits is somebody else’s estimate.
