What Adobe Firefly Image Model 5 actually generates.

Adobe Firefly Image Model 5 is Adobe’s current image model: it renders a native four-megapixel image without an upscaling pass, generates a single image per request, and is sold as commercially safe because it was trained on licensed content. It is the model you pick when the training-data provenance is the deciding factor.

Capabilities and specifications on this page come from Adobe’s own product pages and its Generate Image documentation. Credit costs, plan prices and regional availability are set by the vendor and change without notice. Every image in the gallery below is published on Adobe’s text-to-image page and served from Adobe’s CDN, and each caption names the model Adobe labels for that still: two of the five are partner-model output, which is why none of them is presented here as Firefly Image Model 5 work.

All five stills are published on Adobe’s own Firefly text-to-image page and served from Adobe’s CDN. Three are taken from the page’s headline gallery, and Adobe’s own links for those name the model that produced each one — Google’s Nano Banana 3 twice and OpenAI’s GPT Image 2 once, both of which Firefly offers alongside its own models. The other two are the stills Adobe uses to illustrate Firefly’s Generate Image workflow, so the Firefly interface is part of the frame. None of the five is attributed to Firefly Image Model 5 here, because Adobe does not label any of them that way.

How Adobe describes Firefly Image 5

Adobe’s image offering is not positioned as the highest-resolution or the most stylistically flexible model on the market. It is positioned as the one a business can put in a workflow without a licensing review, and the specifications follow from that.

Four megapixels without an upscale

Firefly Image Model 5 renders at four megapixels natively. Adobe’s own wording is that the resolution comes from the model rather than from a subsequent enlargement step — which is the distinction that matters if you are comparing against models whose headline resolution is a two-times upscale.

One image per generation

Adobe documents a single image per generation — “A single image is generated” — rather than a grid of four variants to choose from. That changes both the interaction pattern and the arithmetic: ten credits buys one image, not one batch.

Trained on licensed and public-domain content

Adobe states that the model was trained on licensed Adobe Stock content and public-domain material, and that it is designed to be commercially safe. That provenance is the product’s central claim, and it is stated on Adobe’s own pages rather than inferred.

Adobe opened Firefly Image Model 5 in beta on 28 October 2025 and moved it to general availability in March 2026. If you are reading an older comparison, that timeline explains why some of them still list the previous model.

Adobe’s documentation covers resolution, credit cost and licensing in detail, and says comparatively little about stylistic range — which is consistent with who the product is sold to.
